In the Swim
I got in a bit more ocean swimming this year compared to last, and fully expected that the first week of October, would be my last swim of the season, but we’ve had great, warm weather lately, and fewer people on the beach to enjoy it. With temperatures still warm this weekend, I expect to jump into the surf at least once more.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve dropped 9 pounds, basically adhering to the Zone Diet, Barry Sears discussed in the anti-aging documentary “Reverse Aging Now.” I need to up the calorie consumption as I’ve cut back on high-calorie snacks, like the 1100 calorie pint of Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream that’s been sitting in my freezer for a week waiting for Carolisa’s next visit or the 1200 calories, not including chips or crackers in a 17-ounce tub of Sabra - Classic Hummus. The older I get the harder it is to keep in shape. As my friends keep telling me when I get discouraged, “aging is not for sissies.”
