Not too old to play
When Carolisa Pomerantz told one of her friends that she was dressing up for Halloween, her friend expressed surprise that as a mature woman, she'd indulge in such behavior. Well I got news for all them tomatoes and goons who think that as adults we're too old to play. Take it from me, Joey Bagels and my Sheba, Trixie Twinkletoes (next to me): playing keeps us young. Exercising our brains and stretching our personalities when stakes are low can keep life fresh and add to the joy of living.
Roxann Mehle of Pacific Mariners Yacht Club made a point of inviting Carolisa and me to a 1920s Prohibition era murder mystery Halloween Party at the club. We had a blast and were particularly impressed at how good everybody looked.
Since I was born less than three hours before Halloween, the holiday has always been special to me. I am particularly grateful for all the good wishes I received and the gifts from Carolisa and my sister, who was born almost exactly ten years after me. I beg the indulgence of those who acknowledged my birthday as I work through thanking everybody individually.
