May is an absolutely glorious time of year in the United States. No matter where you are, Spring has finally arrived. Even at the highest elevations, the last of the snow has started to melt.

     

I've been able to get away for some local hiking, not too far afield but enough to escape the city and enjoy the call of nature. Hiking is great exercise, good for the cardiovascular system and a respite from the tensions of urban stress. Click here for our hiking video. Just recently, I have a replaced my 34 year old hiking boots with state of the art stompers that let me walk through streams while keeping my socks bone dry. If only I had had these as a Boy Scout. Next month, it's time to plunge into the ocean as the seas warm, but for now the satisfying crunch of the trail underfoot lures me on.
