Anti-Aging Diary's monthly journey to youth, longevity and fitness from Reverse Aging Now, the anti-aging video.

As i get older, I'm amazed at how fragile our anti-aging gains can be. For years, I've played tennis once or twice a week. Over the past few months, two of my steady partners moved away and a third took an extended trip to Europe. Suddenly I found that I hadn't played a set in two months. When I headed off to a Friday night five set doubles get together in mid June, I was eager to get back on a court. I had practiced my serve that morning, but was in for a rude awakening. Athough I was paired with good players, my partners and I did not win a single set. The next morning I felt every seldom used muscle in my body, despite the fact that I routinely exercise daily.

I'm eager to get back into regular sets, so I'm trying to find new tennis partners who attack the game with the same vigor and joy that I do.

The good news is, I've been able to knock some weight recently, slipping back into the 190's for the first time in months. Still, I have to make sure that I maintain.

My blood pressure had crept up. Now it is back to normal again. Clothes fit better and although I did have my first Ben and Jerry's ice cream in months, I've been restrained about rarely eating sweets and only drinking socially. I've been working steadily on satisfying projects. My optimism and enthusiasm have improved.

Summer is a great time to stay active. The hot weather hasn't quite hit my neighborhood yet. For the past few weeks Venice has been blanketed by June gloom. Still the cloud cover is starting to now break late in the day. The Pacific is still chilly, but I'll jump in soon. On an upcoming 4th of July trip to Boston, I'll resume swimming and do my best to resist the temptation of overindulgent barbecue feasting. It will be good to see family, and walk the historic streets of my home town.

As I write this, the world is mourning the death of a 50 year old, Michael Jackson. His autopsy results are not yet in, however his demise serves as a reminder that no matter how rich and successful one is, life will end and could stop early. The best we can do is forestall death by taking steps to maximize one's health in the time we have.
