Ever since I herniated two discs by writing too much without stretching or relief from my desk, I've been going to physical therapy. Lately, I've been subjected to traction, which reminds me of being put on a rack, a favorite torture of the Catholic Inquistion. I am strapped in to a machine more tightly than a sausage is stuffed, then my spine is pulled apart by progressively greater weights. Every so often during the process, in what is perhaps a flashback, to a past life, I have an urge to confess my sins and beg forgiveness from God.
Luckily, the ceiling of Physical Therapy Care has a wooden pattern that holds my interest through the procedure.
