I just came through a major personal crisis that was ultimately resolved in my favor, costing me time, but no money. I never would have gotten through this without the deeply appreciated help of family, friends and the kindness of strangers who recognized that I had been genuinely wronged. For their support I am profoundly grateful It's interesting in hindsight to watch how one reacts to extreme stress. Despite what I knew, I found myself slipping into negative behavior patterns almost as if I took comfort in their familiarity of gaining weight. In the upcoming issue of Reverse Aging News, I'll be sharing recent research about why it is so difficult for us to break habits whether they are good or bad. One of the key findings is that the thinking and so called habit brains coexist, but aren't the same. As I write this spring is full upon us with gorgeous sunny days in the mid seventies. |

It's the perfect season to bike, jog, play tennis, and resume swimming. Yes, I know, even here in Southern California, it's a bit early to plunge into the ocean, but if you truly want to look your best for Bathing Suit Season, now is the time to pull out the suits, squeeze in and resume a few laps at the local pool. Swimming will work all the muscles in the body and is not stressful on the joints so it it perfect for older people. Be patient with yourself if you haven't swum for a while. I hadn't swum in months. A couple of days ago I was ready to stop after a couple of hundred yards because I was working unfamiliar muscles, but I relaxed, kept going and in short order finished a 1K swim, a bit more than the 1/2 mile of the Malibu Triathlon. Will I do another this year? I've got five months to train. I skipped last year, but race training for me gives me focus. After the events of the last couple of months, I feel as if I've gotten a reprieve. Enjoy this season of rebirth. Happy Passover and Easter. |
